1/3/12 SysCom  Sends a Big Shout Out to John Tremble

Networking the old fashion way, by email (!), resulted in our new relationship with Century Hardware.  Fellow representative from the Pacific Northwest, John Tremble, helped make the opportunity materialize. 

 

SysCom has known John for years, first as a rep, then as the GM of one of our Detroit area accounts. John most recently was an engineer for a national window manufacturer in multiple states. 

 

After departing his position in engineering, John contacted us to say he was in the process of building a new rep agency.  Let us make it clear:  This is a tough task in a depressed housing economy.  Never the less, John pushed on with good results. 

 

We've always known the West Coast had fenestration oriented suppliers which had not yet tapped the Great Lakes market area.  When John phoned from his car during the Thanksgiving Holiday week, he explained the interest Century Hardware National Sales Manager, John Dunkle had in SysCom.  The rest is history in the making!

10/31/11 Glasslam Announces New Spacer and Powder Coating Facility in Florida

Steve Howes, CEO of Glasslam, in a partnership with Pat Argento, owner of Hurricane Impact Glass & Aluminum, purchased Florida Powder Coating in Lantana, Fla., forming a new company, Cirrus Powder Coating. The new Cirrus facility will feature two automated spacer manufacturing systems that will produce Air-Tight S silicone spacer, according to a release.

 

"Because of the size of the facility, we decided to expand our spacer manufacturing with our new in-line technology spacer systems," Howes said, in the release. "There turns out to be a lot of synergies with powder coating and our other businesses that we can utilize in this new plant. The powder coating capability fits well into our product categories of laminating, insulating, coloring and decorating."

                                                                

Howes said the two spacer systems are currently being installed and will be operational by the end of the year. The additional foam spacer capacity will help Glasslam service the North American market with higher desiccant, higher durometer and higher dimensional tolerance product, with improved lead-times, officials said, in the release.
